Fun and Inexpensive Ways to Celebrate V-Day

Valentine’s day doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive and there are a hundred ways to show your partner how much you love him/her.

I’ve put together a list of fun and inexpensive ways you and your significant other can enjoy hearts day this year. Whether you are short on funds or you simply want to avoid a large crowd in restaurants, here are some frugal tips to help you celebrate V-Day.

  1. A Handmade Love Note

Delight your significant other with a handmade card or love note. Surprise your partner by leaving it by his bed so it will be the first thing he’ll see when he wakes up. It’s something sweet, special and from the heart.

  1. Indoor Picnic for Two

Date night doesn’t have to be an expensive dinner at a fancy restaurant. For V-day 2016, throw an indoor picnic for you and your honey. All you need are a few things such as blankets, pillows, candles or a fireplace, Christmas lights, food, wine, your living room and each other. I bet you have most of the items on the list. If not, I’m sure you can improvise. Be creative and use your imagination. You can do it!

  1. Breakfast In Bed

Wake up early and cook your loved one a delicious meal. Nothing beats a homemade breakfast in bed. It doesn’t have to be fancy either. Check out your pantry or fridge and prepare something easy. Scrambled eggs are always a great idea. Maybe you can make heart-shaped pancakes too.

  1. Movie Marathon

Well, with V-Day falling on a Sunday this year, you can have an all-day movie marathon. Create a movie theater in your own home. Just add popcorn and soda then you both can take turns in picking the movie. Have fun!

  1. Love Coupons

Come up with a list of things your partner would love. Give him this collection of V-Day coupons such as a back massage, his favorite home-cooked meal, breakfast in bed, unlimited hugs and so on. Make little coupons your loved one can redeem whenever they want.

  1. Workout

For the fitness enthusiasts even if you both are not, schedule a class at the gym before your planned date night. Or you can exercise at home with your favourite fitness routine. It’s a great bonding activity you and your SO can do to stay fit and healthy.

  1. Use Your Talent

If you’re good at writing poems or composing a song and maybe you are crafty then use your talent to create a V-Day gift for your sweetheart. Others might find this to be a little cheesy, but I’m sure your guy or girl will find it very romantic and appreciate your effort. Then if you have time, you can even make your honey a scrapbook.

  1. Game Night

Find something you’ll both enjoy and can do together. Maybe you can play card games, video games or board games. Think of anything fun and entertaining to pass the night.

  1. Decorate Your Mirror

You can use sticky notes or lipstick to display a sweet Valentine’s Day message for your honey. List down all the things you love about your partner on each post-it note and stick it on your bedroom mirror. Another way is to decorate the bathroom mirror with lipstick kisses and “I love you” message. These are easy and inexpensive ways to show your love to your sweetheart.

  1. Your Favorite Photo

Find a good photo of the two of you and frame it. It’s simple yet meaningful. You can also turn your favorite photo into a custom canvas print and transform your image into a work of art.

There  are many ways you can show your affection to your special someone without having to break the bank. Also, remember that Valentine’s Day is not just a special occassion for couples. You can celebrate friendship with your best buds too. May you have a sweet and romantic V-Day! Spread the LOVE!
